Network Fundamentals
Network Fundamentals
- LAN(Local Area Network):computer or devices in a small geographic area connected to form a network by a central hub/media:hub or switches or routers
- HUB:recv data from host and broadcast to all local devices
- SWITCHES:recv data and send to dest. directly.it can simutanesly send and recv data, which is smarter than HUB.
- ROUTERS:connect LANs to communicate.Gateway for a LAN
- CNX by RJ-45 Cable or WAP
- data transfer rate is the maximum bits per second(bps)
- IP address can be devided into two parts by a subnet mask
- 192.168.1.1—-[192.168.1]NetworkID—[1]Host ID
- Subnet Mask:A group of four number that define a computer’s network
- VLAN(Virtual LAN)
- Network Topology:BUS(connected in a line)/STAR(connected by a central media)/RING(connected in a loop)/MESH(every one connected,with no central media)
- Ethernet: A standard defined how data is sent and recved by IEEE as 802.3
- Frames, includes data and address info, are trasfered in network.
- MAC(Media Access Control) address
- OSI Model [Layer 1~7]
- Loopback IP:127.0.0.1
